“Today, Congress will hold its first hearing on the federal criminalization of marijuana. This is a big day: after patient years of steady gains one state at a time, we’re finally ready for serious marijuana policy reform at the federal level.” – Rick Steves

Rick Steves: I support home cultivation rights for all marijuana consumers
It’s time our state lawmakers comport Washington law with those of other states that regulate the adult use of marijuana — all of which allow adults to grow limited quantities of cannabis in private.
I’m stepping up, will you?
In the coming weeks, I will match dollar for dollar every donation our NORML supporters can give before the midterm elections, up to $50,000 to empower NORML to educate the public on the benefits of legalization and to fight back against our failed prohibition.
NORML vs Big Alcohol and Big Pharma
Hi, I’m Rick Steves, TV travel show host and a proud member of NORML’s Board of Directors. I’ve just returned from doing a barnstorming speaking tour in both Maine and Massachusetts to help build support for their legalization initiatives. It was an exhilarating week, meeting and talking with the good folks in those states, getting lots of great press, and feeling the excitement build in advance of what we expect will be victories in both states.
I will match your donation to the Maine Legalization Initiative
I’ve worked hard to help legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana for adult recreational use in Washington State (where I live) and in Oregon. This November, Maine voters will have the opportunity to approve a ballot initiative that will end prohibition and replace it with a sensible marijuana policy in their state too.
What I’ve Learned
I’ve worked hard to help legalize, tax, and regulate marijuana for adult recreational use in Washington State (where I live) and in Oregon. I was proud of these laws; they won because they were what I consider “public safety” laws — rather than “pro-pot” laws — and our communities are thankful they passed. California is voting on an even smarter law this November and when this passes, I believe the country will follow and our federal government’s long and stubborn war on marijuana will be history.
Support NORML and get “Evergreen”, the exciting documentary that tells the story of how Rick Steves and friends helped legalize marijuana in Washington State
Dear NORML members and supporters, As a board member of NORML I am feeling really good. I’m on a drug policy reform high for four reasons: We legalized marijuana in my state (Washington) and in Colorado in 2012. (That gives “the lower 48” a whole new meaning.) And, the Brookings Institution gave it a two-year review and concluded it’s a good thing. We plan to legalize in Alaska, Oregon and the District of Columbia this November. (I’ll be spending six days on a 12 city barn-storming tour in Oregon, like […]
