Voter Referendum to Overturn LA Dispensary Ban Qualifies for Ballot

Today, the LA City Clerk announced that a referendum to overturn the recent Los Angeles City Council medical marijuana dispensary ban has qualified for the ballot. Organizers had previously submitted signatures to the city and were informed today that they surpassed the 27,425 valid signatures required to qualify. Latest Polling Shows Colorado’s Marijuana Legalization Initiative With Growing Lead

Colorado’s Amendment 64, which aims to regulate marijuana in a manner similar alcohol, is gaining favorability with voters as the November election nears. New polling data, released over the weekend by DenverPost/SurveyUSA, shows Amendment 64 support growing. 51% of respondents said they would vote in favor of the measure, with only 40% saying they will vote against it. 8% remain undecided. Most Statewide Marijuana Initiatives Lead Solidly In Polls

Four of the six statewide marijuana initiatives appearing on the November 2012 ballot are solidly favored among likely voters. Voters in six states – Arkansas, Colorado, Massachusetts, Montana, Oregon, and Washington – will be deciding on marijuana-specific ballot measures this November. In Massachusetts, voters will decide on Question 3, a statewide proposal that seeks to allow for the physician-recommended possession and state-licensed distribution of cannabis for therapeutic purposes. NEW POLL: Washington’s Marijuana Legalization Initiative, I-502, Holds Huge Lead

A new poll just released by SurveyUSA, shows Washington State’s Initiative 502 is maintaining its commanding lead heading into November. The latest survey data has likely voters in Washington supporting I-502 by a large margin, 57% of respondents stated they planned on voting yes, 34% said they would vote no, and 9% are undecided. Michigan: Four Cities To Decide On Marijuana Depenalization Ordinances

Voters in four Michigan cities will decide this November on municipal ordinances seeking to legalize or depenalize local marijuana offenses. City officials in Flint, Michigan most recently approved a citizens initiative to amend the city code so that the possession on private property of up to one ounce of marijuana or cannabis paraphernalia by those age 19 or older is no longer a criminal offense. Federal Judge: Criminalization of Marijuana is “Absurd”

Judge Richard Posner serves on the United States Court of Appeals for the Seventh Circuit in Chicago, he also wants marijuana to be legalized. Colorado’s Marijuana Initiative, Amendment 64, Still Leading In Polls

Statewide polling data from Colorado, just released by Public Policy Polling, shows support holding strong for Amendment 64, a ballot measure that aims to re-legalize and regulate the personal use of marijuana. From August 31st to September 2nd, PPP conducted a survey of 1,001 likely Colorado voters and found the plurality of them continue to support marijuana legalization. When polled on direct ballot language, 47% of Coloradans state they are supporting Amendment 64, with only 38% opposed and 15% undecided. This is unchanged from polling released last month.
